RBS+COVER-1.jpg

A bike shop unlike any other; we build bicycles like a tailor makes a fine suit.

We opened our doors in 2011 with a single purpose: empowering Richmond through cycling.

Our professional mechanics take every measure to build bicycles that are perfectly tailored to their owners' needs, and guide our customers through every step of the process. From sharp road machines to agile mountain bikes and exciting commuters, we design bikes using the best components for every application.

On top of that, 100% of our profits go directly toward Richmond Cycling Corps, the nation's only cycling program designed exclusively to help inner-city youth break free from poverty and public housing.  Coming to RBS is not just an experience for your bike, its also a great way to give back to your city.

Graham Rothermel - Head Mechanic/Shop Manager

Graham brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and experience, built during his 11+ year tenure as a professional mechanic.

From a young age Graham developed a love of bicycles and a fascination with how things work. Getting into mountain bikes as a teenager, followed by road riding in his early 20s, he enjoys almost any type of cycling, though his favorite is still mountain biking. In his spare time Graham likes cars, motorsports, home projects and renovations. If you can break it, Graham can fix it.".

Andreas France - Mechanic

Born in cycling-crazy Belgium, Andreas has been involved in cycling for over 12 years. Whether it be on the road or on the trails, he has experience in many of the sport's disciplines. He made the leap four years ago to ditch his car and commute strictly by bike.

If you catch him at the shop, ask about his days as a bike messenger or how to pronounce some tough Flemish cyclocross names.

Mike King - Bike Fit specialist

As our in-shop bike fitter, Mike brings to the Studio an educational background in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.  His experience in the field and in-depth knowledge that ensures an optimal bike fit. Mike uses a holistic approach to fits to ensure that the entire body is considered, and as such, he makes sure that all parts work together and no one part gets overworked independently of the others.

Mike has always had a passion for cycling, but did not start training and racing competitively until attending VCU.  While there he found his strength in mountain biking and quickly moved up through the ranks and later began racing road and cyclocross.
